Indian Coast Guard has invited online applications through SSC for Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I under CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027. Source: official Indian Coast Guard CGEPT notification (batches 01/2027 and 02/2027). Advertisement number and notification date: not mentioned in the PDF. Written by Sarkari Result Family Team.

The Indian Coast Guard Navik Yantrik recruitment 2026 covers two batches at once, CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027, and the Staff Selection Commission is taking the applications. Four posts are open: Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I. Some need only Class 10, while Navik (General Duty) needs Class 12 with Maths and Physics. One point many readers miss: the post you choose decides your batch. Yantrik is filled only in batch 01/27, Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I only in 02/27, and Navik (General Duty) can fall in either.

Women’s Navik (GD), Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I recruitment is on an all-India basis. If your zone has no seat reserved for your category, you may apply as unreserved, but then you get no age relaxation, no passing-marks relaxation, no fee exemption and no travel reimbursement.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational qualification

Post Batch Qualification
Navik (General Duty) 01/27 or 02/27 Class 12 pass with Maths and Physics from a COBSE-recognised board
Navik (Domestic Branch) 02/27 Class 10 pass from a COBSE-recognised board
Hygienist-I 02/27 Matriculation OR ITI OR equivalent from a board recognised by the Central or State Government
Yantrik 01/27 Class 10 plus a 3 or 4 year AICTE-approved diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering; OR Class 10 and Class 12 plus a 2 or 3 year diploma in the same branches

The notification lists many equivalent diploma names for Yantrik, such as Marine Engineering, Production Engineering, Ship Building Engineering and Electronic Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Check your diploma name against that list before applying. Candidates from open schools not recognised by AICTE or COBSE are not eligible.

Date of birth window

Post Batch Born between
Navik (General Duty) 01/27 and 02/27 01 Nov 2005 and 01 May 2009
Yantrik 01/27 01 May 2005 and 01 May 2009
Navik (Domestic Branch) 02/27 01 Nov 2005 and 01 Oct 2009
Hygienist-I 02/27 01 Nov 2002 and 01 Oct 2009

Age relaxation is 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST. The notification gives the relaxation in years only and does not print adjusted birth dates for each category, so confirm your exact window on the SSC portal.

Worked example: a General category candidate born on 15 March 2007 falls inside the Navik (GD) window. A candidate born on 10 June 2009 is later than 01 May 2009, so cannot apply for Navik (GD) or Yantrik, but fits the Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I window, which runs to 01 Oct 2009. Hygienist-I allows the oldest candidates, with births from 01 Nov 2002.

Selection Process

Selection has four stages, and clearing all of them is compulsory. Identity checks at every stage include the live photo taken at registration, thumb biometric, signature and identification mark. Failing even one check cancels the candidature.

Stage-I: Computer Based Exam

The test has 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each, in Hindi and English, with 1 hour to finish and no negative marking. Pass marks are 40 for UR, EWS and OBC, and 35 for SC/ST. If the exam runs in several shifts, marks are normalised. Tip: biometric is taken before the exam, and mehndi or wax on the thumb can stop you from appearing.

Stage-II: Recruitment Centre

This stage runs 1 to 2 days at an ICG recruitment centre and is qualifying in nature. It includes identity and biometric check, the Physical Fitness Test, an online or OMR Assessment and Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical. The centre and date are given on a first come, first served basis, so upload your extra documents and choose early.

Gender 1.6 km run Squats Push-ups Bent knee sit-ups
Male 6 min 30 sec 20 15 15
Female 8 min 15 10 10

All four fitness tests run without a break, and any break means failing the PFT. Assessment test marks are not part of the final merit, but are used to break a tie after age (the older candidate ranks higher). Candidates found unfit in the medical can appeal at a designated AFMS hospital within 14 days, and that decision is final.

Stage-III: INS Chilka

Shortlisted candidates report to INS Chilka at their own expense. The stage has an Aadhaar-based identity check, document verification, pre-enrolment medical (appeal within 5 working days at INHS Nivarini or INHS Kalyani) and submission of police verification and other forms. Police verification must be obtained after the last date of application. Tip: any change in Aadhaar name, date of birth or appearance in the last two years is checked.

Stage-IV: Document authentication

Your original educational documents are verified with the concerned boards, universities or State authorities. Candidates whose documents are reported as not genuine are terminated from service.

Exam Pattern

Detail Information
Mode Computer based, multiple choice, Hindi and English
Questions and marks 100 questions, 1 mark each
Duration 1 hour

Passing marks 40 (UR/EWS/OBC), 35 (SC/ST)

The subject-wise split of the 100 questions is not mentioned in the official notification. Detailed syllabus is not part of the notification. It says the syllabus is available on the portal.

Document Checklist (in the order to prepare)

Documents the notification asks for
  1. Recent colour passport photograph, not older than three months before the application opened.
  2. Scanned signature.
  3. Date of birth proof: Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate.
  4. Identity proof: Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Driving Licence or Passport. If you have Aadhaar, upload it as your first option.
  5. Domicile certificate for Navik (GD) men. Others need it only to claim height relaxation. Where both domicile and resident certificates exist, only the domicile certificate is accepted.
  6. Service certificate or NOC, if you are serving ICG personnel or a civilian employee.
  7. After Stage-I, for Stage-II: category certificate (SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer/EWS) and, if you are employed in a government organisation, an NOC dated on or after the advertisement publication date.
  8. Post-wise education documents: Class 8 marksheet and ITI documents (Hygienist-I); Class 10 marksheet and certificate (Navik DB); plus Class 12 marksheet and certificate (Navik GD); Class 12 if completed, all diploma marksheets and diploma certificate (Yantrik).
  9. At Stage-II and Stage-III: originals with self-attested photocopies (2 sets, then 3 sets), colour photographs (12, then 30 plus 10 of 3.5 x 2.5 cm on blue background) and, at Stage-III, parental willingness, police verification, family particulars, character and willingness certificates.

What Applicants Commonly Get Wrong

  • Entering marks incorrectly or incompletely. The notification says this leads to cancellation.
  • Uploading only one page of a multi-page certificate. All pages must be merged into one file.
  • Uploading blurred photos, signatures or documents, or a photo older than three months.
  • Filing more than one application. Only the latest is considered, and the earlier fees are not refunded.
  • Choosing the wrong category. It cannot be changed after submission, and date of birth and gender cannot be changed at any stage.
  • Forgetting the registered email ID or mobile number. After submission they show only in encrypted form and cannot be retrieved.
  • Using documents issued after 21 October 2026 or valid for less than 31 December 2027.
  • Using an OBC certificate that is not non-creamy layer, has no QR or bar code, or shows an address different from your application.
  • Arriving with mehndi or wax on the thumb, which can block biometric capture.

Check Before You Apply

  • Vacancies are tentative. ICG can cancel any test, any stage or the whole recruitment of a batch without giving a reason.
  • Navik (GD) selection can fall in either batch, and you cannot claim a particular one. Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I applicants wait for Stage-III in October 2027 and basic training in November 2027.
  • Document verification happens at several stages. A candidate declared medically fit can still be disqualified later.
  • No marriage is allowed during the training period. Candidates may be discharged as unsuitable if progress or conduct is unsatisfactory.
  • Any corrigendum will appear only on the SSC portal. If the Hindi and English advertisements differ, the English version prevails.
