Salary and In-Hand Stipend Calculation
| Post Level | Stipend Basis | Gross Approx. |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice (All Trades) | Railway Board rules for Act Apprentice | โน7,000 โ โน8,000 per month |
Stipend is not directly mentioned in notification. As per earlier Railway apprentice policies, minimum stipend for ITI passed candidates ranges between โน7,000 to โน8,000 monthly. No deductions like NPS or HRA are applicable because it is a stipend, not a regular salary. The apprentice receives the full amount after basic statutory deductions (if any). Compared to other state apprentice posts, Railway stipends are often 10โ15% higher. Benefit beyond stipend: handsโon training in a central government workshop, experience certificate, and priority in future Railway recruitment.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| UR / OBC / EWS | Not specified (likely nil as per Apprentice Act) |
| SC / ST / PwBD / Women | No fee (standard exemption) |
Notification does not mention any application fee. Usually apprentice recruitments under Apprenticeship Act are free for all. Doubleโcheck payment page on https://apprenticeshipindia.org before final submit.
Age Limit
| Category | Min Age | Max Age | Relaxation |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 15 years | 24 years | โ |
| OBC | 15 years | 27 years | +3 years |
| SC / ST | 15 years | 29 years | +5 years |
| PwBD / ExโServicemen | 15 years | 34 years | +10 years |
Example: If you are a General male born on 01โ06โ2002, as on 05โ05โ2026 your age = 23y 11m โ eligible. OBC candidate born 01โ06โ1998 = age 27y 11m โ within 27 years, eligible.
Eligibility Criteria
| Post | Qualification | Required Stream |
|---|---|---|
| All Apprentice Trades | 10th with 50% marks + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in relevant trade | As per trade applied (e.g., Fitter trade โ Fitter ITI) |
Most common mistake: applying with a different ITI trade than the one mentioned in vacancy table. Only those trades listed are available. Final year candidates (10th or ITI) are NOT eligible if result is awaited on 05โ05โ2026.
Selection Process
Merit List Preparation
No written exam or interview. The railway will calculate the average of percentage marks obtained in Matriculation (10th) and ITI final exam, each given 50% weightage. Example: 10th marks 65% + ITI marks 80% = 145/2 = 72.5% merit score. Higher the average, better the rank.
Document Verification & Medical
Candidates with top merit will be called for DV and medical certificate (Asst. Surgeon or above). Medical must follow Apprenticeship Act 1961 norms. Medical unfitness leads to cancellation.
Your first 7 days after applying: (1) Note your application registration number. (2) Check your 10th & ITI marks calculation. (3) Collect OBCโNCL / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD certificates (if applicable). (4) Prepare a scanned passport photo (white background). (5) Keep original ITI and 10th marksheets ready. (6) Verify your Aadhaar is linked to the apprentice portal. (7) Track any corrigendum on apprenticeshipindia.org.
